I made the cut. Back in February, when I was at Folk Alliance in
Memphis, I was interviewed by Andy from Taylor Guitars. My video
interview made the cut and will be up on the Taylor website soon.
Thanks Taylor Guitars! I also made it into the Spring 2012 Wood and
Steel, Taylor’s monthly publication, (pg. 26). You have no idea how
exciting this is for me. I’ve been reading this magazine for eight
years and it was awesome to see my own name in there. I admit I got a
little verklempt when I saw it. I’m looking for a smaller guitar to
play and I think I will choose another Taylor!
I’m Going To Texas!
I’ve been chosen as a finalist in the Songwriter Serenade in Moravia,
TX. The first place winner will receive a Folk Alliance Official
Performance Alley showcase at the 2013 Folk Alliance Conference in
Toronto. The contest is May 5. This will be a huge opportunity for me
to meet some Texas venue owners and bookers. I’m super excited to get
there, meet everyone and play some music. I’m happy to say that it was
some of my newest songs that won the judges over.
Nebraska, Here I Come
I’ll be in Nebraska for a little house concert tour and songwriting
workshop in May. If you know anyone who does house concerts in
Nebraska, let me know, because I’d like to spend more time there. The
shows and details are up on my calendar on my website. It’s an easy
drive for me and I can still get home to take the kids to dance and
gymnastics and piano and tennis and …
Facebook vs. Ancestry.com
I’ve discovered Ancestry.com. Oh my gosh…the house is a mess, the
mail is unopened, the songs are half-written and…..I have tracked down
the ORIGINAL MARY McADAMS!!! I am addicted. I’ve found a set of
cousins (not sure what to call them….) whose great, great grandfather
was a brother to my great, great, great grandfather on my dad’s side
(see what I mean?). I’ve found the same thing on my mom’s side. We are
filling in blanks in each other’s history and sharing pictures. I’m
over the moon. I thought Facebook was addictive…Did I mention that
I’ve found my great, great, great grandfather’s name on a ships manifest
from Ellis Island? I am Irish, Danish and Swedish. I could go on and
on….
Where Is The New Album, Mary?
It’s coming! I’ve just written a brand new song called “Blue Dress” and
I’m so excited to share it with you! I will admit that I am a little
smitten with this song. I will post a homemade video this week on my
Facebook page. Look for it here: Mary’s Facebook page in the next few
days. Find me and “Like” my page, if you haven’t already!
Kari Estrin Artist Management and Consulting
I’m also excited to announce that I will be working with the fabulous
Kari Estrin, a well-known folk promoter, to promote this new album.
Thank you Kari for taking me on! She promises to keep me on track and I
promise to be kept on track. I hope Kari feels the same way about
Ancestry.com as I do…
Thanks for reading!
